Horse Racing in Tipperary
Ireland has a deep-seated, almost mythical attachment to horse racing. The country boasts a host of racecourses, fine stud farms, jockeys, trainers and of course world renowned horses like Istabraq trained by Aiden O'Brien and ridden by Charlie Swan. Tipperary itself is no different and can pride itself on having three race courses where a day of fun can be had for all the family.
Tipperary Races The course is a left-handed flat track of one and a quarter mile with a water system. Tipperary Races located 2 miles for the county seat of Tipperary Town in recent year has played host to Istabraq, Limestone Lad and High Chaparral to name but a few of the leading stars in the racing world in recent seasons. Tipperary Races gladly cater for corporate and family needs. Free admission is offered to children below the age of 14 with suitable entertainment a present at all evening and Sunday meetings . Corporate packages are available offering everything from race sponsorship to private bars. For those needing a break from the excitement of it all a full range of catering facilities are available. Clonmel Races- Powerstown Park
The course itself is a right-handed and is recognised as a tough National Hunt course. A stiff uphill climb is followed by a gradual downhill run. There are 6 hurdles and 7 fences on the circuit of one and quarter miles and an uphill finish. Powerstown Park Racecourse is located in north of Clonmel town. Horses racing has been carried out here for over 100 years and mature help create a beautiful racing environment. Clonmel races attract large fields and regularly have in excess of 120 horses running at any one meeting. The majority of fixtures are over the winter. No Website Right-handed track of one mile and two furlongs with a climb seven furlongs out. Thurles is celebrated as the centre of the Gaelic Athletic Association and is also the heart of the famous Scarteen hunting county.
