Golden
Golden is a picturesque village set on the River Suir. Golden is noted for its fishing, and the historic site of Athassel Abbey. Embed Video Code - place this video on your site The abbey was founded in the late 1100s by William deBurgo. It is situated on a 4 acre site at a bend in the River Suir. At one time it was the largest active monastic site in medieval Ireland. It burned down in 1447 and was dissolved in the 1500s. A five arched bridge at the entrance remains.
